I mean… it never occurred to me that there could be a site devoted to my favorite film ever. And I've seen a lot of film. I am in the midst of what has to be my second hour just clicking through this and that… and right now I am holding the same dumb smile on my face that I had when I first saw the movie in 1989. I'm remembering what an impact the movie had on me (I was only ninth grade). I saw it as a double feature with Erik the Viking of all things. Remembering how I was sold (yes, sold!) the movie poster from the theatre I first saw it in… 8.00… but it's still one of my most prized possessions (and it's mounted). Thank you for taking the time and creating this resource. I could go through this place for. It tickled me that you even have the Pauline Kael review from the New Yorker. It must have been right before I made the decision to throw down 80.00 (a fortune for a teenager working an hour a day) to own a VHS copy the day it was released… right before then that I read that review. Her final statement has stuck with me… how Steve Kloves' characters 'don't reach out to you, you reach out to them.' Beautiful criticism, beautiful film. And beautiful site. Jerad Formby - 16th August 2002 I rented DVD last weekend on a whim. I remembered seeing movie on tape in early nineties but it did not leave impression on me. This time around for some reason it blew me away. I can't get this movie out of my mind. This movie carried an outstanding musical score coupled with an appealing look to it, it also delivered solid writing dealing with the dynamics of the different relationships involved. I am not a polished critic, just an average joe, but I feel all three did outstanding jobs delivering their characters. In my opion Beau and Michelle pushed their acting to the limit. Jeff Bridges of course is pretty one dimensional, however Jack fit him to the tee. It was as perfect a fit as his character in The Big Lebowski. Just so you know, there are those of us who were looking for movie stills and not just Michelle Pfeiffer shots. You're not alone in thinking that BOYS is a brilliant film. In fact, I would say that it is the best American film of the last twenty years. It is beautifully written, passionately acted, and defines the lost dreams of a generation forced to deal with the fact that they have become everything that they hate about their chosen profession. I have a deep passion for Michelle Pfeiffer. I own the film. I play the soundtrack in my classroom after the day is ended, and I need to calm and relax and strip away the agonies of the day.
